Humorous Leadership in a Diverse World
Katie Munoz, Serious to Hilarious
Tuesday April 4, 2023 6:15PM - 8:00PM
Research has shown that leaders who use humor are 20% more motivating. But most people believe humor happens by accident and are unable to reproduce their occasional success. In this workshop, Katie shares a step-by-step process to create the perfect humor for the occasion while keeping all of your toes out of your mouth.
You will be taught:
- The reasons to use humor
- The one necessary element that makes something funny
- How to structure your communications to a) motivate at the start of a project, b) lighten the hard times, and c) adjust your congratulations to an individual's personality.
Break-out room questions:
(1) Share an occasion when you lighted a dark time for a client or employee with humor. Were you pleased with the outcome?
(2) Have you ever tried to use humor and had it not work out the way you hoped?
Katie Munoz is an unexpected speaker who was born quiet and serious. She stumbled into public speaking by accident. Being a software engineer, she didn't think humor and public speaking were skills she would need, but she loved the unforgettable adrenaline surge she experienced when she made an audience laugh.
But those skills became vital when she became a program manager, and even more useful when she started her own move management business, Moving Forward.
Now Katie coaches public speaking and humor full time, and in one way or another, she has been teaching these for over 25 years. She loves showing how even a naturally quiet, serious person can be funny with no personality transplant required. Check out her webpage, www.serioustohilarious.com, for tips and entertaining videos. Funny folks get remembered!
