We hope you'll enjoy this glimpse at our past. We're a diverse, intelligent, compassionate, fun-loving and close-knit group. We celebrate and nurture our relationships. We hope the brief references below demonstrate that.
- 1983 The Association of Professional Organizers (APO) forms the first chapter in Los Angeles.
- 1986 APO becomes the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and orchestrates its first conference.
- 1989 Four Seattle Organizers meet on September 14. They meet again on October 26 and November 30. Dues are set at $30/year.
- 1990 The group starts charging $5.00 a meeting. April 26, discussions begin within the gathering to initiate the "Chapter-in-Formation" process to affiliate with NAPO.
- 1992 Some topics are timeless - the chapter hosts a "Talk to the Experts" Panel in February and a March presentation on Neurolinguistic Programming - see below!
- 1995 Sadly, the Chapter dissolves on March 20.
- 2005 NAPO Seattle Area Chapter begins its formation process. There are nine attendees at March's meeting in the Bothell Library. The Bothell Senior Center hosts April's gathering and members meet in a colleague's house in May. By June, the Chapter has an established home in the showroom of an early Business Partner. The December meeting has 23 people.
- 2005 Day of Service Ronald McDonald House. NAPO Seattle Area Chapter formally accepted into NAPO in November.
- 2006 Day of Service Jubilee Women's Center
- 2007 Day of Service Educating Community about National Preparedness Month. Our chapter celebrates its one-year anniversary in May.
- 2008 Day of Service "Helping Hands" - working with a homeowner in need, and Shred Events ("Don't Dread It - Just Shred It!")
- 2008 Third Annual Wine and Chocolate Tasting
- 2009 Day of Service "Helping Hands" - working with homeowners in need
- 2010 Day of Service USO McChord Air Force Base Shali Center
and Sea-Tac USO Center - 2010 We coordinate a Vendor Fair
- 2011 Year of Service Soles4Soles
- 2012 Day of Service Rebuilding Together Seattle. November offers the Lucky Strike Bowling Social and Insider's Tour of The Container Store
- 2013 - Day of Service Treehouse. Our March "Ask an Organizer" panel draws an overflowing audience. Chapter takes a booth at the Remodeling Expo. November Holiday Party includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the flagship Seattle Goodwill facility.
- 2014 Chapter holds a booth at the Remodeling Expo. On June 3, we host Lindagail Campbell, NLP Pacific: "The NLP Name Game: Increasing Your Social Capital."
- 2015 We take a booth at the NW Women's Show
- 2016 Day of Service Gay City
- 2017 NAPO approves a new DBA, National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals, to include members who focus on productivity. This change aligns with the mission of NAPO to be the leading source for organizing and productivity professionals.
- 2017 Day of Service University District Food Bank. We hold a Vendor Fair. The November Holiday Party includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the flagship Seattle Goodwill facility. Our Golden Circle members enlighten us about the intricacies of "Large Scale Projects" in March.
- 2017 The National Association of Professional Organizers becomes the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals
- 2019 Day of Service Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center.
Our August panel of seasoned Organizers answers all the questions about "Employee vs. Subcontractor." The Chapter now averages 30 members. - 2020 Our most-senior members graciously share their expertise in January's "Ask the Experts" Panel. Dues are set at... If you're asking, yes, come join us!
- May 1 2023: Our chapter expands to become the NAPO Washington State Chapter to increase membership, create more opportunities to share professional knowledge, expand our network of business partners and secure the health and future of the chapter for years to come.
- July 8, 2023: Our first ever(?) Summer Social at Meridian Park in Seattle is a success, as a diverse group of seasoned and new members shared lively conversation and tacos.
